When I was 10 or 11, I tried to break my leg a couple of times because I wanted to stay at home all day instead of going to school. I tried falling into bushes, so clearly I was a smart special snowflake.

I wanted to get out of my job by being declared burned out or psychopathic, or something like that. Before I got to the psychologist even, I broke down already from stress. Stress was making me psychotic. Now I still see a psychologist and see says I am completely normal. So yeah the situation you are in is probably the problem. You are probably in university or have a job you hate. I am not saying quit. Work til you have that degree, but from then on, don't be overly ambitious and keep things simple. I am looking for a new job that I simply like to do. I don't want a lot of money, luxury, I just want to be happy.

I once got out of a test by pretending my arm was broken. The school nurse simply asked does it hurt and can I move it. After that she tied it up and told me to go to a hospital.
